I was born in Hopkinsville, KY in 1977. In my teens, I moved to the Boone, NC, where I graduated from Appalachian State University and where I continue to live today. I began painting in watercolor and drawing at a young age under the direction of my grandmother, an amateur painter. Throughout my school years, I experimented with various media and served as a frequent studio assistant to Ringling-trained artist Steven Prewitt, who remains a mentor and friend. I found the focus and direction to paint regularly under the direction of Canadian artist Brian Simons. I've won several awards in juried shows around the Southeast and have paintings in private collections in the US, UK, and Germany.
